I updated to FF3 today, and can no longer drag images directly from Firefox into Photoshop as a new image. This is a deal killer for me – I’ll be rolling back to Firefox 2.x if I can’t find a fix for it.
Guys, are you sure? I just did it. You have to actually have a new canvas open, you can’t drag into a blank Photoshop window, but it worked fine for me. FF3 and PS CS3. Dragged a pic from Amazon direct onto a Photoshop page. Now why anyone would want to do that… ;)

Having to create a new blank image with the same dimensions as the image you want to drag in … well it’s a drag :)
I just checked the official Firefox bug section and the problem it’s being worked on. The bug is marked as “bug 440911: (dragging images to some applications, e.g. PhotoShop, fails)” and there’s a giant table with updates and status on the patch by different programmers. The last one dates of ten days ago so it’s probably still on the works.
Meanwhile I found out that you can still drag images to the desktop and from there to photoshop, if that helps.

Well, the Firefox 3.5 solves that problem :)

August 27, 2008Same problem here… I think I will go back to FF 2, too. And then I will wait for a fix, ’cause I like the new FF3 very much.

January 15, 2009just upgraded to FF3 the other day and noticed the same problem. searching for a proper solution but what’s working for now is this:
1. right-click the image and choose “Copy Image”
2. alt+tab to photoshop and press ctrl+N (create new image), then ctrl+V (paste)
wondering how many other things I’ll find to hate about v3…

February 2, 2009I can’t drag them anywhere… they sacrificed this for a confusing and annoying dragging fx? man they have to include an option to disable that BS
