ShareCash – better than Uploading.com

ShareCash

Simply upload files and get people to download them, and earn from 20 to 60 cents per download!
After QubeCash went under, I moved back to Uploading.com for a while… but now I’ve moved again – this time to ShareCash. I’ve only been using them for about a month, but so far I’m really impressed. The payouts are much higher, the speed and reliability is better than Uploading.com, but best of all – ShareCash pay for downloads from ANY country! Check them out here.

Disable WordPress feeds

Disable WordPress feeds

Need to disable the WordPress RSS feed? It’s easy. Just paste this into your wp-content/themes/*theme-name*/functions.php file. If you don’t have a function.php file, create one.
<?
function fb_disable_feed() {wp_die( __(‘No feed available, please visit our <a href="’.get_bloginfo(‘url’) .’">homepage</a>!’) );}
add_action(‘do_feed’, ‘fb_disable_feed’, 1);
add_action(‘do_feed_rdf’, ‘fb_disable_feed’, 1);
add_action(‘do_feed_rss’, ‘fb_disable_feed’, 1);
add_action(‘do_feed_rss2′, ‘fb_disable_feed’, 1);
add_action(‘do_feed_atom’, ‘fb_disable_feed’, 1);
?>

Flickr spaceball.gif hack

Flickr spaceball.gif

Are you sick of that annoying spaceball.gif overlay that attempts to stop you saving “protected” images on Flickr.com? There’s a really simple way around it.

  • 1. Install Adblock Plus for Firefox
  • 2. Go to a Flickr page with a “protected” spaceball.gif image
  • 3. Right click on the image, and select “Adblock Image”

    Flickr spaceball.gif

  • 4. In the Adblock custom field, add “*spaceball.gif” (without the quotes).

    Flickr spaceball.gif

  • 5. Click “Add Filter”. Reload. Done.
Once you’ve done that, Adblock Plus will prevent spaceball.gif from loading – which uncovers the image underneath, allowing you to right click it, view it, save it, whatever.

QubeCash, an alternative to Uploading.com

Uploading.com is paying less and less, especially for small files – so I did a bit of hunting around today, and have found an alternative – QubeCash. They pay $20 for 1000 unique US downloads, and $15 for 1000 EU downloads, along with various different rates for other countries (including Australia and New Zealand). They don’t appear to have a minimum file size limit, so it looks promising for those of us that get a lot of small file downloads.
UPDATE QubeCash seem to have gone out of business. I never received a single payment, and have switched over to ShareCash instead.

Opera 10 new features

Opera 10 - new features

Unlike some browsers (yes, I’m talking about Firefox 3.5.x), Opera is actually getting better with every release. Opera’s new and improved features include:
  • Opera Turbo – uses Opera proxy servers to compress traffic before it reaches the client computer
  • Inline spell checker – spelling errors are now indicated as you type via a dotted red underline
  • Tab Bar – can be used to show all open tabs as thumbnails
  • Acid3 test – Opera 10 scores 100/100, pixel perfect on the Acid3 compliance test
  • Auto updates
  • Crashlogging tool
Download Opera 10 here.

ePN Quality Click Pricing preview report

ePN Quality Click Pricing preview report

eBay’s new Quality Click Pricing preview report is now available, which allows you to see how your new payouts compare with the current CPA payment structure (look under Reports > Report Type in your ePN account). I’ve just had a look at my report, and I’m not impressed. My Quality Click Pricing total is less than half my current CPA earnings for this month. Looks like Quality Click Pricing isn’t going to be much fun, but I think we all knew that didn’t we?
EDIT – September 22nd, 2009 I’ve just had another look at the QPC preview report (for September), and it appears that I will in fact be earning more with QPC than I am now. Which makes a nice change from the way things have been going with ePN for the last 12 months. Humble pie tastes good.
